Marsigit Philosophy Class Assignment 4. This is the fourth task I
have to submit as the final assignment in the philosophy class. We have to write
a review on the course, the whole process of the teaching and learning process
in this semester and then what we have gone through and what finally we got
from the course. Let me write this review in the form of a narrative story,
Professor. The other students may submit the whole detail of the materials in
each meeting, but I will talk about the feeling I have gone through the meetings.
The
first meeting of the class was held on September 5, 2019. We were waiting for
you in one of the rooms in the fourth floor in Gedung Unggul. From the
schedule, it was said that the lecturer will be Prof.Dr.Marsigit, MA. I did
remember well he was the lecturer who taught us (the teachers of Gunungkidul)
about lesson study some years ago. When finally, you entered the class, you
told us that we did not need to sit in the “formal” seat arrangement, so we
arranged the chairs in a small circle. That meeting, you asked our name,
hometown, and institution where we belong. You also told us some stories about
you and also some requirements of the philosophy class. We need to learn
philosophy more by reading your blog (https://powermathematics.blogspot.com).
The things we have to do are reading the posts
and commenting on the post, beside you also told us that we would have some
quizzes in the following meetings. Finally, the class ended, and it left good
impression on me, I thought “this class will be fun”. I visited the blog and
read some posts and also commented on some interesting posts. My favorite one
was “KEMISTRI”. This figure was my comment on your blog.
As for a language teacher, my comment was
related to the term “chemistry” itself. Frankly speaking, reading your posts
made me get different view of that issue. I did enjoy reading the posts.
The
following meetings, in Meeting 2,3, 4 and so on were other journeys that I had
to go through. I still could not believe myself that I always got zero (0) for
my quizzes. We got 50 numbers in each quiz. The quiz consisted of fifty words
and we had to find the philosophy of each word. For example, the philosophy of “love”
is “romantism”; “healthy” is “harmony”; “things” are “materials” and etc. Then,
the next level of the quiz was something like “the philosophy of the goddess fighting,
the stones making love, and etc”
As I mentioned earlier, from
those 50 numbers I got none of them right. It happened once or twice when I got
1 or 2 for the quiz. At first, I was embarrassed. Frankly speaking, I thought
the questions or statements were strange and I also could not believe myself
that I KNOW NOTHING. However, after listening to the explanations, I slowly
realized that indeed the things were true. For example, the philosophy of “the
goddess who fight” means “the end of the world”. Here, the goddess means
someone or something in the top position, so when Professor explained it as “the
goddess who fight” say, “two countries’ leader were fighting, it caused the two
countries’ lives were in danger and would possibly lead to the end of those
countries’ lives”. The explanations in a real-life example made me understand the
phenomenon more. I was also comforted by Professor’s word that, the zero in my
quiz showed that I still need to learn, unlearn, and relearn.
The next, more
complicated philosophy was taught to us. We learnt things about “a priori” and “posteriori”
I remembered when Professor drew a line on the middle of the white board. Then
this life was actually shown in that line, there were “reality and ideality”, “earth
and sky”; “a priori” and “posteriori”, and many more. I might not understand
all of those things. But one thing for sure, all the things that I learnt in
this philosophy class led me to realize that “I didn’t know that I DID NOT KNOW”.
To make me know means I need to learn
more. Learning is not always set up in a classroom, philosophy taught me that
learning can happen anywhere and anytime. Learning can be from anything. It
just happened after this class that I think of the quote from you, Professor “People
are not all alive, some are the dead-walk” And I do not want to be one of those
“zombies” so I have to learn. The fact that I realized from this philosophy
class, “I didn’t know that I DID NOT KNOW” will make me want to know more and
learn more.
mantap nih "I didn’t know that I DID NOT KNOW until I met you, Philosophy", kata Prof Marsigit, aku ada karena berpikir. Aku tahu bahwa aku tidak tahu saat aku berpikir.
ReplyDeleteTerima kasih tulisannya mba Laily

ReplyDeleteKeren mba Laily, pas banget slogannya "I didn’t know that I DID NOT KNOW” will make me want to know more and learn more."
Thanks kunjungannya Mbak Efi
